Beautiful story of healing and growth, Anthony. When I was a slightly rebellious fifteen-year old, my father died. He had tried so hard to be close to me but I just pushed him away. I went through a lot of guilt blaming myself for the stroke that killed him. I believed the pressure I added to his life contributed.
My Dad knew I wanted to study journalism with Ryerson as my post secondary choice. But something happened when he died and I still don’t know why I decided instead to become a social worker. My career in that field only lasted seven years.
It took a few other career moves and finally retirement to get me writing seriously. However when I look at my life today, I realize each of those paths I travelled were vital.
It’s those twists and turns of life that build our character and feed our creative spirits.
Another beautiful dedication to the power of love. Thanks for sharing, Anthony.
I was very touched by your revelations.
